Softball
Skidmark Softball has, probably, the most complicated and convergent history.
At one time, there was a Co-ed team known as the Lindsay Olive "Pits" captained by Greg MacDonald; a women's team (the name of which eludes me); and the original men's team known as "Production Credit".
Women Skidmarks
The women's team history is a little fuzzy, so if anyone out there remembers the timeline, names, sponsors, coaches, etc. - let me know and we'll update this section.\
Co-Ed Skidmark Softball
A Skidmark co-ed team evolved from the "Pits" team and was short-lived. For a couple of years the Skidmarks overhauled many other co-ed teams. Several of the current men's team members and their better halves belonged to that co-ed team.
Men Skidmarks
In the mid-eighties, the men's "Production Credit" team became "the Crickets", sponsored by Bassett Cricket Ranch and managed by Russ Bassett. After a run of about fifteen years,"the Crickets" metamorphosed into the "Skidmarks" sponsored by Rast Produce. The war-cry of the current skidmarks is "Anybody, Anywhere - As Long As The Beer's Cold And The Pizza's Greasy!"
Even though the team's average age is about 45, we still claim an occasional victory over teams guys half (or less) our age! Members of the current men's team are "Skipper" John Rast, Jack Rast, Bill and Brian Callahan, Russ Bassett, Don O'Dell, Gil Jessup, Bob Williams, Dave Rodriguez, Jeff Lynch, Roger Hunt, John Villanueva, Clay Whitney, and Jim Crawford.
Stay tuned - the Spring League usually gears up the end of March. And, of course, the Skidmarks will be older and craftier!! Watch out young'uns.
